What are RFID tags?
Generally RFID tags (Radio Frequency Identification) are special labels based on a Radio Frequency Identification technology. This system allows to unambiguously identify, any object which has been assigned to a unique identity.
What can be done with RFID tags, why are they special?
RFID tags allow, through a radio frequency detector, to acquire information about a particular product, without the requirement of a physical / direct optical contact. RFID tags allow much more actions than simple labels with only bar code, namely: research, selection, identification, spatial location and tracking of all items.
